The City of Bonn
Bonn
Instead of our initial plan – camping in Cologne – we decide to drive 15 minutes further to Bonn. Here I found an open camper place next to a beautiful park called Rheinau Park. There is no electricity and no water, which makes this a whole new experience for us. In this short blog I will share some of my discoveries.
You have a bike? With the Rhein on your right hand you can cycle all the way to the city center of Bonn. On the other side river you will see some impressive villa’s. The city is alive. Enjoy cycling over the promenade where people go for evening strolls after a hard day of work.
Park your bike against one of the many racks nearby the square and check out the food trucks (when they are there of course). Look out for the wine truck. You will see people of different ages enjoying a good glass of wine to start of the weekend. At this point you are surrounded by beautiful historical buildings. Each one so colourful and well maintained.

What’s for dinner?
You want to try something new for dinner? In our case the simplistic restaurant Mandu catches our eye. Within ten minutes you will be enjoying the rich flavours of the Korean Kitchen. PS: try their homemade tea. I had fresh lemon tea and I’m definitely going to make this at home.
Rheinau Park
Beside our camper spot is the beautiful Rheinaue Park. It’s a park that’s built in 1979 and with 160 hectares it’s almost as big as the city center.
Different garden themes makes walking through this park so much fun. Especially the Japanese garden is a work of art. We very much enjoyed the soft pink blossom in March.
Are you in Bonn on a saturday morning? Then the cricket- and baseball players are probably be training. We very much enjoyed running after the ball when it was going far behind the playground.
When you are in Bonn this park is a must see. It’s spacious, clean and well maintained. For me one of the most beautiful parks i’ve ever seen.
